The school year has come to an end and I feel re-energized to get back on track with my projects. With Memorial Day and the Fourth of July approaching it is a very special feeling to see the American flags swaying in front of homes. To join in the patriotic vibe I created my American Flag inspired wreath.
I reuse my grapevine wreath for every season. One reason is that it saves me space in my already packed storage areas and second, it challenges me to get my creativity on.
Materials Needed:
- Grape Vine Wreath
- Red Cardstock 12 x 12
- White Cardstock 12 x 12
- Glitter Blue Cardstock 12 x 12
- Cricut Maker with Fine Point Blade and Scoring Stylus
- Handy dandy burnt and tortured glue gun
I used the star image from the image library from Cricut, it is free if you have the membership. I cut 12 red stars , 7 stars on glitter blue paper and 14 white stars all of them about 2 inches big. I also cut on my machine 5 white stars in a smaller size for the stars that will be in the blue area of the wreath.
After cutting them with the Cricut Maker I placed them along my wreath without glue just to see how I like the design best before committing to the glue gun. I added some battery powered fairy lights so that it can be seen at night! The good thing is that the lights have a timer so they turn on and off on their own. One less thing for me to remember!
I needed a few hints of Red, White, and Blue around the house so I used the leftover stars and glued them by the corners with a hot glue gun. To have a hook to hang them by I hot glued a twisted wire to the back of the top star.
I am looking forward to some sparklers and grilling.
Keep it crafty.
