A mini bio on this plant where I am from: The Aloe Vera or as we call it around here, Savila, is a plant that brings you good luck. They like to be placed where people pass by but with everything there are always stipulations! The superstition around here is you either have to be gifted the plant or you take it into your own hands and steal it. Preferably not the latter. This plant is said to absorb the negative vibes people have towards you. The greener it gets the more bad vibes it has absorbed away from you. I like to think that this is true because they look so nice!

Anyways, it all started with one Aloe which was a gift from my Mom when we moved into our first apartment. Then all of sudden they multiplied like banshees! I thought they would make a nice present to give as there are so many and they are easy to take care of. Especially since succulents are still all the rage! Even better, I happened to have a lot of left over candle jars from Fall and Christmas. Every time a candle would burn out I knew I could use the jar for something else. And here it is!

What you will need:

  • Aloe Vera Plants or another succulent that can be propagated
  • Candle Jars or small planting pots of your choice
  • Soil (these plants in particular are not picky, I used dirt)
  • Pebbles (I got a bag from The Dollar Tree)
  • Print out (I have included in this post!)
  • Scissors, glue gun, toothpick (optional if you are going to be adding signs)

If you are going to be using your used candle jars, clean out the wax using your strategy of choice. I struggled with mine a bit but I ended up putting hot water in the jars to loosen the wax and than cleaned them out with paper towels but if you have a better idea go for it and let me know how you did it in the comments! After cleaning out your candle jars place your Aloes in the jars. Play around with the different sizes and see how you like them the best!

After you decide on the placement, place just a few rocks at the bottom to help with the drainage. Add your soil leaving about an inch of room at the top. I topped off the soil with a few rocks just for aesthetics, this step is optional.

I created a mini bio to adorn these little fellas and so that their new owner will have some information on their new plant. I cut out the bio and glued the mini bio on one side of a toothpick and a hello sign on the other. I have included a PDF of the file so that you can download it and print on any color of paper you like.

Insert your mini bio in your pots and these little fellas are ready for gifting!

I made some for gifting around Halloween time! They were a hit!
